Keeping The Sanctuary Holy
#1
Why is it that when I go into a Christian church, they always have people chit-chatting in the sanctuary? Isn't this room supposed to be kept Holy so that God's presence will be there?

If people bring the world into the sanctuary, I would think that it make the room not pure and therefore God's presence can not be there. I know the Catholics treat the sanctuary with the utmost respect. Maybe that's why I feel the warmth of God there and coldness when I'm in a Christian church.

Anybody else notice this?

I've noticed this myself. We shouldn't take thoughts about the world into church with us because God is spiritual and we need to be spiritual ourselves if we are going to worship Him. We can't be thinking about things like who's playing football today or thinking about going out to eat after church and so on. John 4:24, 'God is spirit, and those who worship must worship in spirit and truth.'

If you are going to go to church to worship God then leave the world behind, otherwise don't go. You wouldn't watch a football game to worship God would you?
