Glory is God’s and Vanity is Man’s
Pursuing Vanity and Worshipping False Gods | The Glory is God’s
2 Kings 17:14-15, But they would not listen, they were more stubborn than their ancestors had been who had no faith in Yahweh their God. They despised His laws and the covenant He had made with their ancestors, and the warnings He had given them. The Glory is God’s
They pursued emptiness (vanity), and themselves became empty through copying the nations round them although Yahweh had ordered them not to act as they did.
The people saw all the vanity of the other nations, including worshipping false gods. The people rejected God and did not want Him to rule over them, they wanted a king like the other nations. As for the people asking for a king and God warning them about the consequences of having one; in 1 Samuel 8:1-22 you can read about this or listen to it in the podcast.
God Gave Them Warning
God was not wrong about what would happen if they rejected Him and chose to be ruled by a king. We certainly cannot rule ourselves without falling into the pit of vanity and corruption, so how can we trust another human being to rule for us. Look at the governments of the world, they don’t look out for the people only themselves.
God is the only way to go. The Glory is God’s
Seek Truth and Balance Your Life in Moderation
Proverbs 30:7-9, Two things I beg of you, do not grudge me them before I die: keep falsehood (vanity) and lies far from me, give me neither poverty nor riches, grant me only my share of bread to eat, for fear that surrounded by plenty, I should fall away and say, ‘Yahweh–who is Yahweh?’ Or else, in destitution, take to stealing and profane the name of my God.
With riches, we can become greedy and even insecure. We can reach a point that enough is never enough and we spend our lives chasing after money and materialism, but in the end, we are left with nothing, we are empty. All in all, we never gave God the glory for our prosperity, we glorified ourselves and riches became our god.
When it comes to riches and poverty, we can choose to be either one, wealthy and living by the means of the world and be poor in spirit or we can be poor by the means of the world and be rich in spirit.
Is Your Name in the Book of Life?
We have a choice, we can die and be kicked off this world like a flea on a dog (because the world has no use for us anymore) and when judgement day comes, God and Jesus say, ‘Who are you? We don’t know you, but just to be sure, let’s look and see if you are in the book of life. Sorry, but your name is not in here. You will have to go.’
Where are you going to go to spend eternity? God and Jesus do not know you and you don’t know them. There are two places to go, Heaven or the Lake of Fire. Since you are not known in Heaven and because your name is not written in the book of life, there is only one place left, the place you prepared yourself for, “The Lake of Fire”.
Give up your worldly life and follow Jesus; He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father but by me. Don’t reject Jesus, believe in Him and overcome your sins. Jesus says, ‘ “Love one Another” as I have loved you.’
Creation Needed a Designer
Jeremiah 10:12-15, By His (God) power He made the earth, by His wisdom set the world firm, by His discernment spread out the heavens. When He thunders there is a tumult of water in the heavens; He raises clouds from the boundaries of earth, makes the lightning flash for the downpour, and brings the wind from His storehouse.
At this, all men stand stupefied, uncomprehending, every goldsmith blushes for the idol he has made, since his images are nothing but delusion, with no breath in them. They are a Nothing, a laughable production; when the time comes for them to be punished, they will vanish.
God is in Control of All Things
In the first part of this scripture, it shows a lot of the glory of God. God is the great I Am… and His glory is endless, and we need to show our love to Him by glorifying Him in all that we do just like Jesus did.
Jeremiah is glorifying God and in the second part he is mentioning about how can people ignore the glory of God and worship idols that they fabricated themselves? Idols that sit there and do nothing. Their idols, their so called gods are lifeless just like all the other vanity that people adore and possess. The Glory is God’s
Look How Hard Man Works For Nothingness – Vanity
Isaiah 59:4, No one makes just accusations or pleads innocently. All rely on nothingness, utter falsehood, conceive harm and give birth to misery.
Ecclesiastes 1:2-3, Vanity of vanities. All is vanity! For all his toil, his toil under the sun, what does man gain by it?
What Utter Madness
Man works hard for all his desires and pleasures and for what? Think about it, what do you get out of amassing vanity after vanity? More Work, that’s the answer! Bring glory to God and you will store up treasures in heaven where they will not perish.
Man is Insane to Work For Vanity Other Than Salvation
Eccl. 2:1-2, I thought to myself, ‘Very well, I will try pleasure and see what enjoyment has to offer’. And there it was: vanity again! This laughter, I reflected, is a madness, this pleasure no use at all.
I resolved to have my body cheered with wine, my heart still devoted to wisdom; I resolved to embrace folly to see what made mankind happy, and what men do under heaven in the few days they have to live.
I did great things: built myself palaces, planted vineyards; made myself gardens and orchards, planting every kind of fruit tree in them. I had pools made for watering the plantations; bought men slaves, women slaves; and home-born slaves as well; herds and flocks I had too, more than anyone in Jerusalem before me.
Trade Unspiritual Things For Spiritual Things and Live
I amassed silver and gold, the treasures of kings and provinces; acquired singing men and singing women and every human luxury, chest on chest of it. So I grew great, greater than anyone in Jerusalem before me; nor did my wisdom leave me.
I denied my eyes nothing they desired, refused my heart no pleasure, a heart that found all my hard work apleasure; such was the return I got for all my efforts, I then reflected on all that my hands had achieved and on all the effort I had put into it’s achieving. What vanity it all is, and chasing of the wind! There is nothing to be gained under the sun.
And this is why it pays to be obedient to God and be blessed. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all else will be given to you. What we receive from God is everlasting, none of it is perishable. The Glory is God’s
The World Takes Care of the Sinners and God Takes Care of the Righteous
Eccl. 8:10-14, And then I see the wicked brought to burial and people come from the Temple to honor them in the city for having been the men they were. This, too, is vanity. Since the sentence on wrong-doing is not carried out at once, men’s inmost hearts are intent on doing wrong.
The sinner who does wrong a hundred times survives even so. I know very well that happiness is reserved for those who fear God, because they fear Him; that there will be no happiness for the wicked man and that he will only eke out his days like a shadow, because he does not fear God.
But there is a vanity found on earth; the good, I mean, receive the treatment the wicked deserve; and the wicked the treatment the good deserve. This, too, I say, is vanity.
God’s Works are Mysteries Yet to be Revealed
Eccl. 11:5, Just as you do not know the way of the wind or the mysteries of a woman with child, no more can you know the work of God who is behind it all. The Glory is God’s
That’s because God’s thoughts are not like our thoughts and our thoughts are not like God’s thoughts.
Love God With All Your Heart
Psalm 29:1-2, Pay tribute to Yahweh, you sons of God, tribute to Yahweh of glory and power, tribute to Yahweh of the glory of His name, worship Yahweh in His sacred court.
Our bodies are considered temples because they house our soul and also the Holy Spirit. Since Jesus came and preached the Good News about the kingdom of God and being baptized with the Holy Spirit, we don’t need the man made temple that stood in Jerusalem.
No More Animal Sacrifices
Jesus is our Savior, He died on the cross for our sins. There is no need for animal sacrifices in which all the blood could do that was shed from the animals was to cover over our sins. Now we can repent, acknowledge our sins and ask God for forgiveness all because Jesus was the sacrificial Lamb that shed His blood for us.
We have the ability to worship God in spirit because of the baptism of the Holy Spirit that we experienced. Because of Jesus and for Him sacrificing His life for us, we can be reconnected to God, our Father in heaven. All Glory to God.
Let the Light of Jesus Shine Forth
Matthew 5:14-16, ‘You are the Light of the world. A city built on a hill-top cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp to put it under a tub; they put it on the lamp-stand where it shines for everyone in the house.
In the same way your light must shine in the sight of men, so that, seeing your good works, they may give the praise to your Father in heaven.
When we are out in the public, it is important to be on your best behavior because people will judge you. If you act in a Christian manner, then people will take notice and it’s possible that people will see the glory of God in you.
Humble Yourself in All That You Do
Matthew 6:1, ‘Be careful not to parade your good deeds before men to attract their notice; by doing this you will lose all reward (glory) from your Father in heaven.’
By acting in this manner, you are not to bring glory upon yourself, but to be humble and glorify God in all that you do.
When Jesus Returns
Matthew 16:27, ‘For the Son of man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and, when He does, He will reward each one according to his behavior.’
We can’t even imagine what this glory of God’s is going to be like that Jesus is speaking of beholds. God’s glory is going to be incredible, amazing, and beyond words.
Jesus is Glorified
Matthew 25:31, ‘When the Son of Man comes in His glory, escorted by all the angels, then He will take His seat on His throne of glory.’
Jesus glorified the Father in all that He had done for Him by doing the Father’s will and not His own. So, in turn, God glorified His Son, Jesus Christ and all those that believed in Jesus and died in Him will be able to see the Glory of God in Him and with Him.
We also need to glorify God in all that we do so that others can see His glory and come to God the Father through His Son, Jesus Christ and those that do, will be glorified as well. Amen
Give Thanks to God in All Things
There were ten lepers that were made clean (healed), but only one gave glory to God for being healed. Luke 17:17-19, This made Jesus say, ‘Were not all ten made clean? The other nine, where are they? It seems that no one came back to give praise to God, except this foreigner. And He said to the man, ‘Stand up and go on your way. Your faith has saved you.’
What a shame that the nine men who were healed from leprosy could not even give thanks and glory to God for healing them. At least the other man showed his gratitude to Jesus and glory to God. The Glory is God’s
False Teachings of Man
John 7:18, When a man’s doctrine is his own he is hoping to get honor for himself; but when he is working for the honor of one who sent him, then he is sincere and by no means an impostor.
That is one way to tell who is true to God or true to oneself. A man who wants to shine in the eyes of the people will bring destruction to those who listen to him and also to himself. But a man whose only intent on doing the works of God will bring glory to God and in the end, God will glorify him.
Lazarus is Ill and His Sisters Sent Word to Jesus
John 11:4, On receiving the message, Jesus said, ‘This sickness will end not in death but in God’s glory, and through it the Son of God will be glorified’.
John 11:40, Jesus replied, ‘Have I not told you that if you believe you will see the glory of God?’
Jesus was speaking to the sisters of Lazarus, Martha and Mary. They were lacking faith, truth and understanding as to why Jesus delayed His trip to see Martha, Mary and Lazarus. God’s glory came in the raising of Lazarus from the dead. Jesus was also showing them that with God, all things are possible. The Glory is God’s
Empty Life With no Spiritual Value
Revelation 11:13, Immediately, there was a violent earthquake, and a tenth of the city collapsed; seven thousand persons were killed in the earthquake, and the survivors, overcome with fear, could only praise the God of heaven.
Revelation 14:7, He (an angel) was calling, ‘Fear God and praise Him, because the time has come for Him to sit in judgement; worship the maker of heaven and earth and sea and every water-spring.’
Fear can cause us to rethink about the direction we are going with our lives. We may finally see that we are heading in the way of destruction. We see that we were wrong to reject God and Jesus because we didn’t want to give up our worldly life, a life that is empty, that has no spiritual value what-so-ever.
The New Jerusalem the Holy City
Revelation 21:10-11, In the spirit, he took me to the top of an enormous high mountain and showed me Jerusalem, the holy city, coming down from God out of heaven. It had all the radiant glory of God and glittered like some precious jewel of crystal-clear diamond.
This is going to be so spectacular to witness this happening. This is so unimaginable, there will be no words to describe this glory of God’s.
