Is God’s Word Darkness to the Flesh?

God’s Word is darkness to the flesh because the flesh belongs to the world and the world is darkness. The flesh knows no truth, it keeps the truth locked up in the soul. The flesh is nothing more than pride, it wants to cater to itself first. It rebels against God because God’s way is the opposite of the way the flesh wants to live and be.

The flesh knows very little or nothing about God’ Word, sin or repentance, and when your conscience tries to tell you that something is wrong and you want to do it anyway. You try to think of a way to justify that there is nothing wrong so that you can do it without feeling guilty. The flesh is always seeking the temporary happiness of what the world has to offer. Sometimes, the flesh will stop at nothing to acquire that happiness.

Unlocking the Truth

In order to unlock the truth from your soul, you will need to give up your will to God, follow Jesus and study God’s Word. Call on Jesus and tell Him that you want to build a relationship with Him and you need His help to overcome your carnal self and Satan. Then you will be able to learn Truth, and the Truth will become Light and the Light will dispel all darkness.

John 6:40 ‘Yes, it is my Father’s will that whoever sees the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and that I shall raise him up on the last day.’

Pride the Root of All Evil

James 1:14,15, ‘Everyone who is tempted is attracted and seduced by his own wrong desire. Then the desire conceives and gives birth to sin, and when sin is fully grown, it too has a child, and the child is death.’

Pride is the roots of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. We need to take an ax and chop this tree down and lay it to waste. Acknowledge our sins, repent of them and be baptized in the Holy Spirit. Then we can feed from the Tree of Life, God’s Word.

Sure, our flesh will die, but not our spirit. Our spirit will live on forever just as the Holy Spirit will be with us forever as Jesus tells us in John 14:15-17, ‘If you love me you will keep my commandments. I shall ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to be with you forever, that Spirit of Truth whom the world can never receive since it neither sees nor knows him; but you know him, because he is with you, he is in you.’

If We Reject Jesus, We will Die a Second Death

When Jesus died on the cross and He went into hell, the sacrifice He made shattered the darkness and the Light started to shine through for the first time since Adam and Eve before the fall. Adam and Eve walked in the Light, but because of their pride, they rebelled against God by being disobedient and the Light left them to their darkness.

John 8:12, When Jesus spoke to the people again, He said, ‘I am the Light of the world; anyone who follows me will not be walking in the dark; he will have the Light of Life.’

Deconstructing Christianity – Fallen Away from the Faith – Read 1Peter 5:5-11

Hebrews 6:4-8, ‘As for those people who were brought once into the Light, and tasted the gift from heaven, and received a share of the Holy Spirit, and appreciated the Good Message of God and the powers of the world to come and in spite of this have fallen away — it is impossible for them to be renewed a second time. They cannot be repentant if they have willfully crucified the Son of God and openly mocked Him.

A field that has been well watered by frequent rain, and gives the crops that are wanted by the owners who grew them, is given God’s blessing; but one that grows brambles and thistles is abandoned, and practically cursed. It will end by being burnt.’

Matthew 12:32, ‘And anyone who says a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven; but let anyone speak against the Holy Spirit and he will not be forgiven either in this world or the next.’

Unlike spiritual dryness periods, there was a time where I felt like I was in a slump for a long period of time, about 5 years. I kept my faith in God, I knew that Jesus and the Holy Spirit were with me, but it seemed like I wasn’t doing anything for God. I thought that maybe I might be going through a test or trial.

I kept going until finally I found a good church to attend. The church has been a real blessing to me. They also have a faith based program that I’m involved with. I’m happy once again that I’m able to do something for God and that there is value in it.

Keep Your Faith – Prove to God that You Can Handle All Tests and Trials

James 1:12, ‘Happy the man who stands firm when trials come. He has proved himself, and will win the prize of life, the crown that the Lord has promised to those who love him.’

There are people that are going through hard times trying to understand why they have lost their faith or maybe some reason(s) why they need to deconstruct from Christianity. They could be going through a spiritual dryness period which is usually caused by pride or they could be going through a test or trial.

Whatever the case may be, don’t give in to Satan, there has been way too many people who have deconstructed from Christianity or rejected God, Jesus and/or the Holy Spirit. If these people have gone too far as it states in the scripture above (Hebrews 6:4-8), it may be too late to come back.

Please don’t give up, it’s not worth it no matter how long you have to go through what you’re going through. God does not abandon anyone, it’s us that abandon Him. You’re not alone, many don’t give up, we fight the good fight.

1Timothy 6:12, ‘Fight the good fight of the faith and win for yourself the eternal life to which you were called when you made your profession and spoke up for the Truth in front of many witnesses.

Detach Yourself from the World – Have No Roots to this World

Hebrews 11:13-16, ‘All these died in faith, before receiving any of the things that had been promised, but they saw them in the far distance and welcomed them, recognizing that they were only strangers and nomads on earth. People who use such terms about themselves make it quite plain that they are in search of their real homeland.

They can hardly have meant the country they have came from, since they had the opportunity to go back to it; but in fact they were longing for a better homeland, their heavenly homeland. That is why God is not ashamed to be called their God, since He has founded the city for them.’

1John 2:15,16, ‘You must not love this passing world or anything that is in the world. The love of the Father cannot be in any man that loves the world, because nothing that the world has to offer — the sensual body, the lustful eye, pride in possessions — could ever come from the Father but only from the world.’

Detach yourself from the world and be free from all its vanity. This passing world offers nothing of value that could lead you home to God and Jesus Christ.

Mark 8:36, ‘For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?’

Why work for the world that can only offer you death? Store up your treasures in heaven, not here. You can’t take any of your possessions with you, but you can have treasures waiting for you in heaven if you work for God and love one another.
