Tribulation Period | Second Coming of Jesus Christ
The Tribulation Period | The antichrist
They say that in the book of Revelation we are at a time when the next prophetic event to take place will be the peace treaty in Israel that involves the antichrist. Once this takes place, it is supposed to start the seven year Tribulation period.
Daniel 9:27 ‘He will make a firm covenant with many for the space of a week; and for the space of one half-week he will put a stop to sacrifice and oblation, and on the wing of the Temple will be the disastrous abomination until the end, until the doom assigned to the devastator.’
2 Thess. 2:1-4 ‘To turn now, brothers, to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and how we shall all be gathered round Him. Please do not get excited too soon or alarmed by any prediction or rumor or any letter claiming to come from us, implying that the Day of the Lord has already arrived. Never let anyone deceive you in this way.
It cannot happen until the Great Revolt has taken place and the Rebel, the Lost One, has appeared. This is the enemy, the one who claims to be so much greater than all that men call ‘god’, so much greater than anything that is worshipped, that he enthrones himself in God’s sanctuary and claims that he is God.’
Events in The Tribulation Period
2 Thess. 2:9-12 ‘But when the Rebel comes, Satan will set to work: there will be all kinds of miracles and a deceptive show of signs and portents, and everything evil that can deceive those who are bound for destruction because they would not grasp the love of the truth which could have saved them. The reason why God is sending a power to delude them and make them believe what is untrue is to condemn all who refused to believe in the truth and chose wickedness instead.’
Israel is planning on building a temple in Jerusalem where the original temple once stood. The temple has already been fabricated and ready to be built. I believe that the temple will need to be built before we can look for the tribulation period to begin.
The First Resurrection | Pre-Trib or Post Tribulation Period?
Resurrection Definition: (1) The act of restoring a dead person to life. (2) Jesus coming back to life on the third day after being crucified on the cross.
There are Christians that believe in the “Rapture” and they say that this is going to happen before the Tribulation period begins. They say this because they believe that this is the end of the church period and because of that, Jesus is coming for His bride, the church.
In the rapture, the dead will rise first, then those that are alive will join them in the air to meet Jesus Christ. Now this event will involve what is called a “Resurrection” but, the book of Revelation states that the First Resurrection isn’t until way later:
Rev. 6:9-11 ‘When He broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the alter the souls of all the people who had been killed on account of the Word of God, for witnessing to it. They shouted aloud, ‘Holy, faithful Master, how much longer will you wait before you pass sentence and take vengeance for our death on the inhabitants of the earth?’
Each of them had been given a white robe, and they were told to be patient a little while longer, until the role was complete and their fellow servants and brothers had been killed just as they had been.’
Rev. 20:4-6 ‘Then I saw some thrones, and I saw those who are given the power to be judges take their seats on them. I saw all the souls who had been beheaded for having witnessed for Jesus and for having preached God’s Word. Also, those who had refused to worship the beast or his statue and would not have the brand mark on their foreheads or hands; they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
This is the first resurrection; the rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were over. Happy and blessed are those who share in the first resurrection; the second death cannot affect them but they will be priests of God and of Christ and reign with Him for a thousand tears.’
Invitation to the Wedding – Galilean Wedding
Jesus and the apostles were Galileans. When Jesus spoke to them, He used parts of their culture in His teachings as an analogy or parable. I believe He did this so that only His apostles would understand certain teachings at that time. You will see what I’m talking about in the upcoming writing.
The ritual of the Galilean wedding is different than all others. Jesus used this wedding to describe different events that will take place knowing that His apostles would understand what He was trying to tell them and also, those that are going to see the tribulation period.
Here is a brief description of how the wedding ceremony takes place; First, the father and the bridegroom meet up with the bride and her father in town. Then the father of the bridegroom reads a contract or it could be called a covenant to the bride.
Then the bridegroom takes a cup and pours some wine into the cup. He then offers her the cup in which she will either refuse to drink from it or she will go ahead and drink from it. If she drinks from the cup, then the wedding will take place.
The bridegroom will now proceed to build an addition onto his father’s house for him and his bride to live in. The bride will go and find the finest, purest white linen to make her wedding gown out of. All this will take place in about a year.
John 14:2,3 ‘There are many rooms in my Father’s house; if there were not, I should have told you. I am going now to prepare a place for you, and after I have gone and prepared you a place, I shall return and take you with me; so that where I am you may be too.’
No One Knows When Except the Father
Mark 13:32 ‘But as for that day or hour, nobody knows it, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son; no one but the Father.’
The only one who knows the hour when the wedding ceremony will take place is the father of the bridegroom. When that time comes, the father will go to his son and he will tell him that it is time to go get your bride.
The son will grab his horn and he will walk through town on his way to get his bride blowing the horn to let her and everyone else that has been invited to the wedding that the time has come.
When the bridegroom joins up with his bride, then they and the people that were invited will go into the house and the door will be shut and locked for seven days. No one will be allowed in or out until the seven days are over.
There will be people that will not make it to the ceremony, they may have taken their time figuring they had enough spare time to get there, or decided not to accept the wedding invitation, but whatever their excuse may be, they will not be allowed to enter in.
Think about when you have communion and every time you take the cup and drink from it, you are accepting His invitation to the wedding of Him and His bride the church.
Rev. 19:5 Then a voice came from the throne; it said, ‘Praise our God, you servants of His and all who, great or small, revere Him’. And I seem to hear the voices of a great crowd, like the sound of the ocean or a great roar of thunder, answering, ‘Alleluia’.
The reign of the Lord our God Almighty has begun; let us be glad and joyful and give praise to God, because this is the time for the marriage of the Lamb. His bride is ready, and she has been able to dress herself in dazzling white linen, because her linen is made of the good deeds of the saints.’
The angel said, ‘Write this: Happy are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb’, and he added, ‘All the things you have written are true messages from God’.
Warning – Be Prepared
Luke 21:34-36 ‘Watch yourselves, or your hearts are going to be coarsened with debauchery and drunkenness and the cares of life, and that day will be sprung on you suddenly, like a trap. For it will come down on every living man on the face of the earth. Stay awake, praying at all times for the strength to survive all that is going to happen, and to stand with confidence before the Son of Man.’
Luke 21:25-28 ‘There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars; on earth nations in agony, bewildered by the clamor of the ocean and its waves; men dying of fear as they await what menaces the world, for the powers of heaven will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand erect, hold your heads high, because your liberation is near at hand.’
Mark 13:14-23 ‘When you see the disastrous abomination set up where it ought not to be, then those in Judea must escape to the mountains. If a man is on the housetop, he must not come down to go into the house to collect any of his belongings; if a man is in the fields, he must not turn back to fetch his cloak. Alas for those with child, or with babies at the breast, when those days come! Pray that this may not be in winter.
For in those days there will be such distress as, until now, has not been equaled since the beginning when God created the world, nor ever will be again. And if the Lord had not shortened that time, no one would have survived; but he did shorten the time, for the sake of the elect whom He chose.’
‘And if anyone says to you then, “Look, here is the Christ” or, “Look, He is there”, do not believe it. For false Christs and false prophets will arise and produce signs and portents to deceive the elect, if that were possible. You therefore must be on your guard. I have forewarned you of everything.’
1Thess 5:2,3 ‘Since you know very well that the Day of the Lord is going to come like a thief in the night. It is when people are saying, ‘How quiet and peaceful it is’ that the worst suddenly happens, as suddenly as labor pains come on a pregnant woman; and there will be no way for anybody to evade it.’
Mark 13:33-37 ‘Be on your guard, stay awake, because you never know when the time will come. It is like a man travelling abroad: he has gone from home, and left his servants in charge, each one with his own task; and he has told the doorkeeper to stay awake. So stay awake, because you do not know when the master of the house is coming, evening, midnight, cockcrow, dawn; if he comes unexpectedly, he must not find you asleep. And what I say to you I say to all: Stay awake!’ (Keep focused on God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and spiritual things like prayer, etc., etc.)
Matthew 24:13 ‘but the man who stands firm to the end will be saved.’
The Seal of the Holy Spirit
Eph. 4:30 ‘Otherwise you will only be grieving the Holy Spirit of God who has marked you with His seal for you to be set free when the day comes.’
Rev. 7:3 ‘Wait before you do any damage on land or at sea or to the trees, until we put the seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.’
Having the seal of the Holy Spirit will protect you through the tribulation period. In order to have this seal you need to be baptized with the Holy Spirit. Repent of your sins, believe in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and be baptized in the Holy Spirit.
Protection from the Wrath of God
Daniel 12:1,2 ‘At that time Michael will stand up, the great prince who mounts guard over your people. There is going to be a time of great distress, unparalleled since nations first came into existence.
Zephaniah 2:3 ‘Seek Yahweh, all you, the humble of the earth, who obeys His commands. Seek integrity, seek humility: you may perhaps find shelter on the day of the anger of Yahweh.’
When that time comes, your own people will be spared, all those whose names are found written in the Book. Of those who lie sleeping in the dust of the earth many will awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting disgrace.’
Revelation 3:10 ‘Because you have kept my commandment to endure trials, I will keep you safe in the time of trial which is going to come for the whole world, to test the people of the world.’
Isaiah 26:20,21 ‘Go into your rooms, my people, shut your doors behind you. Hide yourselves a little while until the wrath has passed. For, see, Yahweh will soon come out of His dwelling, to punish all the inhabitants of earth for their crimes. The earth will reveal its blood and no longer hide its slain.’
1Peter 1:5-7 ‘Through your faith, God’s power will guard you until the salvation which has been prepared is revealed at the end of time. This is a cause of great joy for you, even though you may for a short time have to bear being plagued by all sorts of trials.
So that when Jesus Christ is revealed, your faith will have been tested and proved like gold. Only it is more precious than gold, which is corruptible even though it bears testing by fire–and then you will have praise, glory and honor.’
The Seventh Trumpet – The Last Day
1Cor 15:51-53 ‘I will tell you something that has been secret: that we are not all going to die, but we shall all be changed. This will be instantaneous, in the twinkling of an eye, when the last trumpet sounds. It will sound, and the dead will be raised, imperishable, and we shall be changed as well, because our present perishable nature must put on imperishability and this mortal nature must put on immortality.’
Paul writes: 1Thess 4:16,17 ‘At the trumpet of God, the voice of the archangel will call out the command and the Lord Himself will come down from heaven; those who have died in Christ will be the first to rise, and then those of us who are still alive will be taken up in the clouds, together with them, to meet the Lord in the air. So we shall stay with the Lord forever.’
Rev. 10:7 ‘The time of waiting is over; at the time when the seventh angel is heard sounding his trumpet, God’s secret intention will be fulfilled, just as He announced in the Good News told to His servants the prophets.’
Rev. 11:15-18 ‘Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and voices could be heard shouting in heaven, calling, ‘The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and His Christ, and He will reign forever and ever’.
The twenty-four elders, enthroned in the presence of God, prostrated themselves and touched the ground with their foreheads worshipping God with these words, ‘We give thanks to you, Almighty Lord God, He-Is-and-He-Was for using your great power and beginning your reign.
The nations were seething with rage and now the time has come for your own anger, and for the dead to be judged, and for your servants the prophets, for the saints and for all who worship you, small or great, to be rewarded. The time has come to destroy those who are destroying the earth.’
Matthew 24:29-31 ‘Immediately after the distress of those days the sun will be darkened, the moon will lose its brightness, the stars will fall from the sky and the powers of heaven will be shaken. And the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven; then too all the peoples of the earth will beat their breasts; and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a loud trumpet to gather His chosen from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.’
John 6:40 ‘Yes, it is my Father’s will that whoever sees the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and that I shall raise him up on the last day.’
John 6:44 ‘No one can come to Me (Jesus) unless he is drawn by the Father who sent Me, and I will raise him up at the last day.’
John 6:54 ‘Anyone who does eat my flesh and drink my blood has eternal life, and I shall raise him up on the last day.’
Daniel 12:13 ‘But you, go away and rest; and you will rise for your share at the end of time.’
These scriptures seem to indicate that Lord will come for His bride, the church at the sound of the seventh trumpet, not before the tribulation period begins. I don’t think there is any harm in hoping or believing that Jesus is coming for us before the tribulation period unless, the rapture does not happen and you lose your faith. It will be much more difficult to endure the tribulation period with out faith.
It would be best if you believe that at some point Jesus is coming for us, His bride, whether it be pre-trib, mid-trib or post-tribulation period. Put your focus on strengthening your faith so that you will be ready for whatever test or trial comes along.
Always keep in mind how God protected the Hebrews from the plagues He sent the Egyptians and how God fed and gave water to the Hebrews when they wandered in the desert for forty years. Also, read Matthew 6:25-34.
God says that He will protect us, those that belong to His blessed Son, Jesus Christ from His wrath during the tribulation period which the whole world will suffer dearly BUT, you have to have FAITH.
Do Not Add To or Take Away From the Prophecies of This Book
Rev. 22:18,19 ‘This is my solemn warning to all who hear the prophecies in this book: if anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him every plague mentioned in the book. If anyone cuts anything out of the prophecies in this book, God will cut off his share of the tree of life and of the Holy City, which are described in the book.
I have to wonder about people teaching the “Rapture” and how this event is supposed to happen pre-tribulation. After all, when you read some of the scriptures in this article, like these scriptures: 1Cor 15:51-53 and 1Thess. 4:16,17, it says that when the last trumpet sounds, the dead will rise first and then those that are alive will be taken up in the clouds, together with them, to meet the Lord in the air.
If the pre-tribulation rapture is a false teaching, then will those that teach and preach it be held accountable for leading people astray? or adding to the book of Revelation? Only God knows when He will tell Jesus to ‘Go Get Your Bride’.
The End – After the Millennium
2 Peter 3:6,7 ‘So that the world of that time was destroyed by being flooded by water. But by the same word, the present sky and earth are destined for fire, and are only being reserved until Judgement day so that all sinners may be destroyed.’
2 Peter 3:10-14 ‘The Day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then with a roar the sky will vanish, the elements will catch fire and fall apart, the earth and all it contains will be burnt up. Since everything is coming to an end like this, you should be living Holy and saintly lives while you wait and long for the Day of God to come, when the sky will dissolve in flames and the elements melt in the heat.
What we are waiting for is what He promised: the new heavens and new earth, the place where righteousness will be at home. So then, my friends, while you are waiting, do your best to live lives without spot or stain so that He will find you at peace.
Zechariah 14:12 ‘And this is the plague with which Yahweh will strike all the nations who have fought against Jerusalem; their flesh will molder while they are still standing on their feet; their eyes will rot in their sockets; their tongues will rot in their mouths.
About This Article
I wanted to write this article because there is so much information out there about the “rapture”. Some say it is going to happen pre-tribulation, or mid-tribulation or post-tribulation. Whatever the case may be, Jesus will be coming back for those that have made themselves ready to meet the Lord.
I did a lot of research and spent a lot of time trying to put together scriptures that have some bearing on this event. Whether or not this event takes place pre, mid or post is not as important as you making sure that you are prepared and ready for the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. When God tells Jesus to go get your bride, He’s going to get His bride whether you are ready or not. This is not an event that you want to miss, it’s for eternity.
A Lot of False Information Out There About the Tribulation Period
I wouldn’t rely solely on your church, your pastor, preacher, teacher, Youtube or whoever else you may be listening to. Get yourself ready for the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. Study the bible, do your research, pray for wisdom and knowledge and live your life for God.
We need to acknowledge our sins and repent of them. Here are some articles on Repentance and Sin:
