Sin No More
In Order To Sin No More We Need Help
When we confess our sins do we know what sins we are confessing to? We could be repentant with a contrite heart and say, ‘Forgive me Father for I have sinned’, but that doesn’t cover all the sins you need to confess to.
This only claims you are feeling sorrowful for being a sinner and that you would like help to change your life. It takes more than repentance to be purified of our sins. God brings us to repentance, and Jesus helps us to overcome our sins and to sin no more.
First Confession of Sins is Important
For the first confession, we should acknowledge all the sins that we are confessing to and asking God to forgive us of these sins. By acknowledging your sins, you are recognizing and becoming aware of the sins that you commit. God also sees that you are owning up to your faults and are willing to overcome them.
1 John 1:8-10, If we say we have no sin in us, we are deceiving ourselves and refusing to admit the truth; but if we acknowledge our sins, but God who is faithful and just will forgive our sins and purify us from everything that is wrong. To say that we have never sinned is to call God a liar and to show that His word is not in us.
Being aware of your sinful nature is important. It’s a starting point that will help you make the changes you need in your life so you can be obedient to God and learn to sin no more. God loves those who are seeking righteousness.
Ask God to Remove Your Sins
Before you make your first confession, write down all the sins that you can remember and ask Jesus to help you as well. He will help you find the ones that are also needed for you to acknowledge.
Next you want to find someone that you can trust like a pastor, a priest, or a friend to confess your sins to. James 5:16, ‘So, confess your sins one to another, and pray for one another, and this will cure you.’
After you are finished confessing your sins, kneel and pray asking God for forgiveness. Ask God to remove your sins and to help you to sin no more.
The difference between repentance and acknowledging our sins is that with repentance we are feeling sorrow for sinning or rebelling against God. As to acknowledging our sins, we become aware of exactly what sins we are committing and need forgiveness for.
Raise Your Awareness Level
Acknowledging our sins can raise our awareness level and make us conscience to triggers that can cause us to sin. It will help us to recognize how our pride plays a big role in the birth of sin and how it can cause them to grow and branch out to become other harmful sins.
Picture Pride as a Tree
James 1:14-15, Everyone who is tempted is attracted and seduced by his own wrong desire. Then the desire conceives and gives birth to sin, and when sin is fully grown, it too has a child, and that child is death.
Pride is like a tree, it is the roots of the tree. As we sin the tree grows and forms branches. A branch starts to grow as we commit different types of sins. Pretty soon, the tree becomes large and full of branches, and the branches start producing bad fruit (sins).
The tree keeps accumulating bad fruit and because of this, the more we sin, the more the light dims that was once prominent within us. The bible says in Jeremiah 17:9, ‘The heart is more devious (wicked, evil) than any other thing, perverse too: who can pierce its secrets?’
Fortunately We Have Jesus
If it wasn’t for Jesus being the sacrificial Lamb for us, we would die in our sins and spend eternity in hell. With Jesus taking on the sins of the world and paying the price for our sins, we have the opportunity to be forgiven of our sins. He made it possible for us to be cleansed and the ability to overcome temptation and to go and sin no more
We were given free will to choose our destiny in this life. We will be held accountable for the choices we make in our daily life. The main choice that we have to make is whether or not we will accept Jesus Christ as our personal Savior.
If we choose to follow Him, He will lead us to salvation and eternal life, if we don’t, we will find ourselves being judged according to the life we led. If our name is not in the book of life, we will be throw into the Lake of Fire.
The Tree of Good and Evil and The Tree of Life
We need to stop eating the bad fruits from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and start eating the good fruits from the tree of Life so we can go and sin no more.
Galatians 5:19-21, ‘When self-indulgence is at work the results are obvious: fornication, gross indecency and sexual irresponsibility; idolatry and sorcery; feuds and wrangling, jealousy, bad temper and quarrels; disagreements, factions, envy; drunkenness, orgies and similar things. I warn you now, as I warned you before: those that behave like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.’
Galatians 5:22-23, ‘What the Spirit brings is very different: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trustfulness, gentleness and self-control.’
Galatians 5:24, ‘You cannot belong to Christ Jesus unless you crucify all self-indulgent passions and desires.’
Pick Up Your Cross Daily and Follow Jesus
Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and Life. We must go through Jesus to get to the Father, there is no other way. It requires us to get baptized with the Holy Spirit to make that connection to God. We have to be purified of all sin in order to stand before God because God is a consuming fire.
Repent, acknowledge your sins, confess your sins, ask God to forgive you of your sins, ask Him to remove your sins, now, go and Sin No More.
