Fear God or Man?

Fear God not man: Proverbs 29:25, ‘To be afraid of men is a snare, he who puts his trust in Yahweh is secure.’

Jeremiah 17:5-8, ‘Yahweh says this: A curse on the man who puts his trust in man, who relies on things of flesh, whose heart turns from Yahweh. He is like a dry scrub in the wastelands: if good comes, he has no eyes for it, he settles in the parched places of the wilderness, a salt land, uninhabited.’

‘A blessing on the man who puts his trust in Yahweh, with Yahweh for his hope. He is like a tree by the waterside that thrusts its roots to the stream: when the heat comes it feels no alarm, its foliage stays green; it has no worries in a year of drought, and never ceases to bear fruit.’

These two scriptures are so vital to whether you have faith or not. If you have worries, fears, or doubts, then you have little or no faith. These three negatives can have a devastating effect on faith. Fear does have certain positives that will help warn you in times of danger.

Love and Fear God

Man cannot touch your soul, only God can. Only God can answer your prayers, therefore, do not attach any of these: worries, fears, or doubts, to or after your prayers to God. In other words, if you are asking God for help or praying for others then believe that God will do what is best to fulfill your request. If your faith is true to God, then you won’t worry, or fear, or have any doubts about the unknown.

With Divine Love and Faith There is No Fear

Revelation 2:10, ‘Do not be afraid of the sufferings that are coming to you: I tell you, that the devil is going to send some of you to prison to test you, and you must face an ordeal for ten days. Even if you have to die, keep faithful, and I will give you the crown of life for your prize.’

Tests, Trials and Hardships

We all have to go through tests, trials, hardships and sufferings but, we have to go through them with faith and trust in God. If we don’t have faith or very little of it, it is because of worries, fears, and doubts. These three negatives can cause not only spiritual damage but, damage to you physically and mentally.

The harder things get, the more faith you are going to need. Faith comes from God and if you don’t trust Him, how can you expect God to give you faith? We need faith and grace from God, without them, we will always remain weak and tests, trials, and hardships will always be a burden for us to go through.

As our faith and trust in God grow stronger, the more positive we will be when faced with tests, trials, and hardships. Not only will we be able to work our way through them, but we will eventually welcome them when they happen to arise in our spiritual walk with the Lord.

The Holy Spirit Will Guide Us

Romans 8:14-15, ‘Everyone moved by the Spirit is a Son of God.’ The Spirit you received is not the spirit of slaves bringing fear into your lives again; it is the spirit of sons, and it makes us cry out ‘Abba, Father’!’

For Those Without Faith They Will Die

Luke 21:25-28, ‘There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars; on earth nations in agony, bewildered by the clamor of the ocean and its waves; men dying of fear as they await what menaces the world, for the powers of the world will be shaken.

And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand erect, hold your heads high, because your liberation is near at hand.’

The stronger you grow in faith and trust in God, the less evil will have an effect on you. You will not notice it as much as you used to because as grow spiritually you are more interested in spiritual things then unspiritual things. You will come to a point where evil seems to be almost non-existent.

Jesus Conquered the World

Jesus says in John 16:33, ‘I have told you all this so that you may find peace in me. In the world you will have trouble, but be brave: I have conquered the world.’

Fear not, Jesus is with us and we will conquer the world as well, with faith and grace from God. With Jesus to guide us and baptize us in the Holy Spirit, how not can we obtain victory over evil?

The Difference Between Unspiritual Things and Spiritual Things

Romans 8:5-9, ‘The unspiritual are interested only in what is unspiritual, but the spiritual are interested in spiritual things. It is death to limit oneself to what is unspiritual; life and peace can only come with concern for the spiritual. That is because to limit oneself to what is unspiritual is to be at enmity with God: such a limitation never could and never does submit to God’s Law.

People who are interested only in unspiritual things can never be pleasing to God. Your interests, however, are not in the unspiritual, but in the spiritual, since the Spirit of God has made His home in you. In fact, unless you possessed the Spirit of Christ you would not belong to Him.’

Let the pleasures and desires fade away from your life and be clothed in the virtues that the Holy Spirit brings. The things that are unspiritual can only retard our spiritual growth and keep us from the kingdom of God. Unspiritual things can also keep us living in worries, fears and doubts causing us to lose our faith and trust in the Lord.

These Things Cause Us to Travel the Road to Perdition

Galatians 5:19-21, ‘When self-indulgence is at work the results are obvious: fornication, gross indecency and sexual irresponsibility; idolatry and sorcery; feuds and wrangling, jealousy, bad temper and quarrels; disagreements, factions, envy; drunkenness, orgies and similar things. I warn you now, as I warned you before: those that behave like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.’

The Holy Spirit Brings Us the Virtues We Need to Live

Galatians 5:22-23, ‘What the Spirit brings is very different: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trustfulness, gentleness and self-control.’

Galatians 5:24, ‘You cannot belong to Christ Jesus unless you crucify all self-indulgent passions and desires.’

Read: Romans 1:18-32

The world entices us to partake of all things that it has to offer that will bring us happiness, and help us to fulfill our pleasures and desires. If you notice, they don’t last forever, they are only temporary. Also, look at all the work and time you spend to achieve any of these the things you so desire. While you pass away with nothing, the world continues on spreading its vanity with Satan laughing all the way.

Man Cannot Conquer Death Alone

For many that do belong to the world, they have, lying inside of them, the fear of death. They do not have God in them for security, only the attachment to the world which can only bring loneliness and death. They do not carry the light of Christ, only the darkness of sin.

Hebrews 2:14-15, ‘Since all the children share the same blood and flesh, He too shared equally in it, so that by His death He could take away all the power of the devil, who had power over death, and set free all those who had been held in slavery all their lives by fear of death.’

Acknowledge Your Sins

1 John 1:8-10, ‘If we say we have no sin in us, we are deceiving ourselves and refusing to admit the truth. But if we acknowledge our sins, then God who is faithful and just will forgive our sins and purify us from everything that is wrong. To say that we have never sinned is to call God a liar and to show that His word is not in us.’

One of the Things That We Fear Most–Looking Inward

This should give us an understanding of what lies within us, and the sins that we need to overcome. We can see the things that hinder our spiritual growth if we have the courage to look inward. We can see the difference between the unspiritual things that we partake in and need to overcome and spiritual things that we need to acquire and live by.

You have to be honest with yourself and take an inventory of your sins. Most people don’t like to do this because it may bring on shame, embarrassment and fear. By doing this it will help raise your awareness level of the darkness you need to overcome and the changes you need to make in your life. It will help make your conscience more alert and keep you from suppressing the wrongs you have been committing.

Detach Yourself From the World

1 John 2:15-17, ‘You must not love this passing world or anything that is in the world. The love of the Father cannot be in any man who loves the world, because nothing that the world has to offer–the sensual body, the lustful eye, pride in possessions–could ever come from the Father but only from the world; and the world, and all it craves for, is coming to an end; but anyone who does the will of God remains forever.’

1 John 5:6, ‘Who can overcome the world? Only the man who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.’

Loving the things of the world is not the same love that comes from God. The kind of love that we can have towards the things of the world is not a pure love, it is a selfish love that comes from pride. The love that comes from God is a pure love that is one that causes us to think of God and others before ourselves.

It’s Important to Love God First

We need to Love God first: Luke 10:27, ‘He (Jesus) replied, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself’.’

In your heart, God comes first. God is a jealous God. He needs to come first for our sake. All the things we need for our life and salvation comes from Him. Things like His divine Love, grace, mercy, faith, humility, righteousness, and forgiveness.

Is Your Faith Going to Hold Firm?

Romans 11:19-20, ‘You will say, ‘Those branches were cut off on purpose to let me be grafted in!’ True, they were cut off, but through their unbelief; if you still hold firm, it is only thanks to your faith. Rather than making you proud, that should make you afraid. God did not spare the natural branches, and He is not likely to spare you.’

As you repent and are saved by your belief in Jesus Christ, will you continue to grow in faith and love towards God and your fellow man? If not, God may cut you off from the tree of life. Don’t become complacent and free to think that are safe from the pruning of the gardener. Pray for the divine love of God.

Being Obedient to God

Romans 13:4-5, ‘The state is there to serve God for your benefit. If you break the law, however, you may well have fear: the bearing of the sword has its significance. The authorities are there to serve God: they carry out God’s revenge by punishing wrongdoers. You must obey, therefore, not only because you are afraid of being punished, but also for conscience’ sake.’

Repent and be obedient to God as well as the law that we have on earth. Follow Jesus and the Holy Spirit in order to grow spiritually. Like the scripture says if your conscience is clear, you should have no fear of being punished from the authorities here on earth or from God Himself. He who lacks the divine love of God will always be fearful.

1 John 4:18, ‘In love there can be no fear, but fear is driven out by perfect love: because to fear is to expect punishment, and anyone who is afraid is imperfect in love.’

Noah Warned By God

Hebrews 11:7, ‘It was through his faith that Noah, when he had been warned by God of something that had never been seen before, felt a holy fear and built an ark to save his family. By his faith the world was convicted, and he was able to claim the righteousness which is the reward of faith.’

Hebrews 12:28-29, ‘We have been given possession of an unshakeable kingdom. Let us therefore hold onto the grace that we have been given and use it to worship God in the way that He finds acceptable, in reverence and fear. For God is a consuming fire.’

Let us overcome our sins so that God can purify us with the fire of His love.

Protect Yourself From the Enemy

Jude 23. ‘When there are some who have doubts, reassure them; when there are some to be saved from the fire, pull them out; but there are others to whom you must be kind with great caution, keeping your distance even from outside clothing which is contaminated by vice.’

Pray to be clothed in the armor of God, ask for the helmet of salvation, be armed with the double edged sword of truth and the shield.

Be Obedient to God and Leave All Fear Behind

Matthew 10:28, ‘Do not be afraid of those that kill the body but cannot kill the soul; fear Him rather who can destroy both body and soul in hell.’

Luke 12:5, ‘I will tell you whom to fear: fear Him who, after He has killed, has the power to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear Him.’

Hebrews 13:6, ‘and so we can say with confidence: With the Lord to help me, I fear nothing: what can man do to me?’

Isaiah 8:13, ‘It is Yahweh Sabaoth, whom you must hold in veneration (respect, honor), Him you must fear, Him you must dread.’

Seek the Path to Righteousness

Did you ever warn a person or maybe your child not to do something because it is wrong and there will be some kind of consequences that will happen? Did you not get mad because they did not listen to you? Well, we do this same thing all the time and in some cases not even realize it.

These things happen to us because we are too pigheaded to follow the path that God has laid out for us. It’s a path to security, peace, freedom and most of all “righteousness”. It’s a path that leads to everlasting eternal life.

On top of all the wisdom, knowledge, and history of the prosperity and consequences of those that did and did not follow God’s instructions in the Old Testament, man still denied to live according to God’s will. God even went so far as to send His Son, Jesus Christ to bring us the Good News about the kingdom of God and to show us the Way back to God.

Jesus is Truth

Luke 12:31-32, ‘No; set your hearts on His kingdom, and these other things will be given you as well. There is no need to be afraid, little flock, for it has pleased your Father to give you the kingdom.’

Scripture tells us to seek the kingdom of God first, it also tells us what we must do to find salvation. The bible tells us to believe in Jesus because He died for our sins, He gave up His life for us so that we may be forgiven of our sins. God sent Jesus as a last resort for us to live and not die in our sins. Those that reject Jesus, will face God’s wrath.

God is a loving and forgiving God. He does not want us to be thrown into the Lake of Fire, He wants us to join Him in heaven and be a part of His family. Again, after all that God gave us with His love, grace and blessings, why should we rebel against Him?

Fear is Used in Place of Reverence When Referring to God

Revelation 15:4, ‘Who would not revere (fear) and praise your name, O Lord? You alone are Holy, and all the pagans will come and adore you for the many acts of justice you have shown.’

Revelation 19:5, ‘Then a voice came from the throne; said, ‘Praise our God, you servants of His and all who, great or small, revere (fear) Him.’

God does not want us to live in fear, or have worries and doubts. God will bless those that put their faith and trust in Him, His Son, Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. If you truly believe in them, then show them.

Pray for the strength and courage to face your fears and conquer them like a warrior armed with the love and grace of God.

May God Bless You With the Grace You Need to Conquer All Evil
