Decisions and Choices | Sinful Nature | God’s Wrath Awaits
Making Decisions and Choices
Proverbs 1:29, ‘They despised knowledge, they had no love for the fear of Yahweh, they would take no advice from me, and spurned all my warnings: so they must eat the fruits of their own courses, and choke themselves with their own scheming. For the errors of the ignorant lead to their death, and the complacency of fools works their own ruin; but whoever listens to me may live secure, he will have quiet, fearing no mischance.’
In the days of my addiction, I governed my own life. Even though I knew the decisions and choices I was making were wrong and against what was considered normal and moral. I was a professional liar and I always tried to hide my way of living. I didn’t care.
I felt secure enough where I had no fear of going to hell. I thought that I knew God well enough that I was in no danger of dying and going to hell. In my judgement of my way of living, I felt that I was in no danger of going to hell. Now that I know truth and I do my best to love God and my neighbors, I have no fear of death.
Now a days, mostly all my decisions and choices are focused on whether or not they meet God’s standards, His way of how He wants me to live. Making sure I bring no grief to the Holy Spirit and not darkness to the soul. I like being obedient to God because as He says in the last part of that scripture, ‘whoever listens to me may live secure, he will have quiet, fearing no mischance.’
Choosing To Do What One Wants
Ecclesiasticus 32:17, ‘The sinner waves reproof aside, he finds excuses to do what he wants.
Don’t we usually try or find ways to do what we want to do even if we have to deceive ourselves into believing it’s ok to do it anyway. We turn away from others or the knowledge of things that will help us do what is right. It can be tough to fight the flesh and the world, but what makes it easier is when we start out our day dressed as a warrior, clothed in the power of God’s word.
God Selects Our Hardships
Isaiah 66:4, ‘I in My turn will select hardships for them and bring them what they dread; for I called and no one would answer, I spoke and they would not listen. They did what I consider evil, they chose to do what displeases Me.’
Whether God is trying to discipline you, or trying to make you stronger in faith, or to get your attention, or cause you to hit bottom so you will surrender yourself to Him, He has a hardship ready and waiting, customized especially for you. We will learn from these hardships if we focus ourselves on God first.
Surrender To God and Live
Psalm 25:12, ‘Everyone who fears Yahweh will be taught the course a man should choose.’
Just starting out when we call on Jesus can be overwhelming. God will usually give us grace that makes us feel like we never have before and He let’s us know that He is there for us. It is absolutely imperative that we make a relationship with Jesus because He is going to be the Way back to God.
Our awareness level has a lot to do with the decisions and choices that we make. The more we become conscientious and knowledgeable about our sinful nature, the more we will be able to make the right decisions and choices.
Jesus is Truth and we must seek the Truth as part of our faith and salvation and that is why Jesus is the Life. That is what this scripture is about; being taught the course that we must follow in order to reach the kingdom of God. This is why we need to surrender our life and will over to God so that we will never die as Jesus says.
God’s Wrath Awaits For Those That Reject His Son, Jesus Christ
2 Thessalonians 2:9-12, ‘But when the Rebel comes, Satan will be set to work: there will be all kinds of miracles and a deceptive show of signs and portents, and everything evil that can deceive those who are bound for destruction because they would not grasp the love of the truth which could have saved them.
The reason why God is sending a power to delude them and make them believe what is untrue is to condemn all who refused to believe in the truth and chose wickedness instead. The Truth that could have saved them is Jesus Christ and for those that foolishly reject Him, well, they are considered condemned already.
God’s Chosen Ones
2 Thessalonians 2:13, ‘But we feel that we must be continually thanking God for you, brothers whom the Lord loves, because God chose you from the beginning to be saved by the sanctifying Spirit and by faith in the truth.’
James 2:5, ‘Listen, my dear brothers: it was those who are poor according to the world that God chose, to be rich in faith and to be the heirs to the kingdom which He promised to those that love Him.’
Ephesians 1:3-7, ‘Blessed be God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all the spiritual blessings of heaven in Christ. Before the world was made, He chose us, chose us in Christ, to be holy and spotless, and to live through love in His presence, determining that we should become His adopted sons, through Jesus Christ for His own kind purposes, to make us praise the glory of His grace’ His free gift to us in the Beloved, in whom through His blood, we gain our freedom, the forgiveness of our sins.’
God makes choices too and His choices are all from His divine love for us. One thing for sure is God loves family and He wants a big family to love and shower His blessings upon. God has offered mankind all He can offer them. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ to save us from death and damnation.
He’s been very patient with us knowing the struggles and suffering that we go through trying to overcome our sinful nature and believe in Jesus who shows us the Way, and teaches us Truth. What more could we ask for? This passing world can only give us death, but God offers us life, everlasting life. Join the family of God and live forever in His kingdom.
Do I Stay or Do I Go
Philippians 1:21-22, ‘Life to me, of course, is Christ, but death would bring me something more; but then again, if living in this body means doing work which is having good results–I do not know what body means doing work which is having good results–I do not know what I should choose.
At some point in our life as we reach a higher realm in our spiritual growth we may be asking ourselves this very question. We may feel that we have been through enough and we want to go home. As we think this thing through, we believe that it would be a beautiful thing to be home with God and Jesus, but if we were as spiritual as we think we are, wouldn’t our humility kick in?
I believe it should because being humble we would not be thinking of ourselves, but the people who haven’t been saved yet. Be honest with yourself; if God said you can come now or stay on earth for awhile longer what would your choice be? Wouldn’t you stay and try to save at least one more soul?
A Big Decision to Make
Proverbs 2:1-5, ‘My son, if you take my words to heart, if you set store by my commandments, tuning your ear to wisdom, and applying your heart to truth: yes, if your plea is for clear perception, if you cry out for discernment, if you look for it as if it were silver, and search for it as for buried treasure, you will then understand what the fear of Yahweh is, and discover the knowledge of God.’
God is giving us one of the greatest choices we can ever make in our being. Look at what God is offering to us, the ability to get to know Him. God wants to reveal Himself to us, give us wisdom, truth and most important His divine love. We would be foolish to turn done an offering like this. No one could possibly write down all the blessings that God wants to bestow upon us.
May God Be With You Always
