Galilean Wedding – Communion – End Times
Galilean Wedding
In Galilee, when a man wants to ask a woman to be his bride, the man and his father meet the woman and her father in town where there will be many witnesses. The father of his son brings with him a written covenant with stipulations that he will read to the woman that his son wants to marry.
After the covenant is read, the son will then offer a cup of wine to the woman. If the woman takes the cup and drinks from it then she accepts his proposal of marriage and if not then she rejects his offer.
Since she accepted to marry him, he will then go and prepare a place for her and him to live. The son will build an addition onto his father’s home. The bride to be will need to go and find the finest, pure white linen to make a wedding gown with. Back in the day of Jesus, the material for the gown was hard to come by.
The Time of His Coming – Go Get Your Bride
Now the bridegroom or the bride has no idea when the wedding is going to take place, only the father of the bridegroom knows. This usually takes about a year for a Galilean Wedding.
Matthew 24:36, ‘But as for that day and hour, nobody knows it, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, no one but the Father only.’
Then, one night, the father of the bridegroom wakes him up and says, ‘It’s time, go get your bride.’ The two of them walk out into the street and head towards the place where the bride is staying. On the way there, the bridegroom is blowing his horn to alert the bride and all the people that were invited to the wedding that it is time.
Wedding Feast – Galilean Wedding
When the bridegroom gets his bride, they go to his father’s house for the wedding and the feast. After they have arrived and the guests have entered the house, they shut the doors and lock them. No one will be able to enter or leave for seven days. Not all those that were invited will make it to the wedding before the doors are shut.
Matthew 25:10-13, ‘Those (bridesmaids) who were ready went in with Him (Jesus) to the wedding hall and the door was closed. The other bridesmaids arrived later. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said ‘open the door for us.’ But He replied, ‘I tell you solemnly, I do not know you.’ So stay awake you do not know either the day or the hour.’
Don’t Reject Jesus Christ’s Invitation – Galilean Wedding
Many people have rejected the invitation to the wedding and some did not prepare themselves for the time of the wedding when God said, ‘It is time’. When Jesus comes for you, are you going to be awake or asleep? Are you going to be able to put on a pure white robe? (Rev. 7:9) Did the oil in your lamp run out? (Matthew 25:1-13).
Matthew 26:27-28, ‘Then He took a cup, and when He had returned thanks He gave it to them, ‘Drink all of you from this,’ He said ‘For this is my blood, the blood of the covenant, which is to be poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins’. Jesus also said, ‘Do this in remembrance of Me’.
When we take the cup and drink from it, we are accepting Jesus’s proposal, the new covenant. He gave up His life for us, now we need to give up our life for Him. That is how the covenant needs to work just like a marriage. To be in union forever. Jesus is preparing a place for us, we need to prepare ourselves for Him otherwise He is not going to know us. Is there a pure, white robe waiting for you?
God has a Room to Keep Us Safe
John 14:1-4, ‘Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God still, and trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father’s house; if there were not, I should have told you. I am going now to prepare a place for you, and after I have gone and prepared you a place, I shall return to take you with me; so that where I am you may be too. You know the way to the place where I am going’.
Matthew 6:6, ‘But when you pray, go to your private room and, when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in that secret place, and your Father who sees all that is done in secret will reward you.’
Isaiah 26:20-21, ‘Go into your rooms, my people, shut your doors behind you. Hide yourselves a little while until the wrath has passed. For, see, Yahweh will soon come out of His dwelling, to punish all the inhabitants of earth for their crimes. The earth will reveal its blood and no longer hide its slain.’
Rev. 3:10-11 ‘Because you kept my commandment to endure trials, I will keep you safe in the time of trial which is going to come for the whole world, to test the people of the world. Soon I will be with you: hold firmly to what you already have, and let nobody take your prize away from you.’
Jesus Turns Water Into Wine
Read John 2:1-11, These scriptures are about the first miracle of Jesus turning water into wine at a wedding at Cana in Galilee. They ran out of wine before the seven day wedding ceremony was over. In a Galilean Wedding ceremony all people involved in the ceremony, including guests had to remain there for seven days.
No one was allowed to enter or exit the home of where the ceremony was taking place. No one could go out and get more wine so they had to ask Jesus for His help.
The End Time is Near
Matthew 24:29-31, ‘Immediately after the distress of those days the sun will be darkened, the moon will lose its brightness, the stars will fall from the sky and the powers of heaven will be shaken. And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven; then too all the peoples of the earth will beat their breasts; and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a loud trumpet to gather His chosen from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.’
1Cor 15:51-53 ‘I will tell you something that has been secret: that we are not all going to die, but we shall all be changed. This will be instantaneous, in the twinkling of an eye, when the last trumpet sounds. It will sound, and the dead will be raised, imperishable, and we shall be changed as well, because our present perishable nature must put on imperishability and this mortal nature must put on immortality.’
This is what needs to happen before we join Jesus in heaven. We do not know when He is coming for us but, we better have our robes cleansed, pure white, ready and waiting for Him. Our faith needs to be tested and true in order to succeed making it through the trials that we experience growing spiritually. This way, the Lord will keep us as He says, ‘Safe in the time of trial that is coming for the world’.
